No two computer monitors are alike... and Mac's and PC's use different types of calibration to display images on your screen (in short, called gamma).
It has been my experience that many people often have the brightness and contrast set incorrectly and consequently see the web in a whole different light.
Please take a moment before entering Lightworld to adjust your brightness and contrast settings. Most manufacturers state in their manuals to raise the contrast to 100% and then raise or lower the brightness while looking at a test pattern. You should be able to see all six shades in the box above with a slight difference between the first and second shades.
Give it a try, you can always change them back after you leave.
